    We have identified printing errors in the “The case for change: Why England needs a new care and support system”, published 12th May 2008. The errors relate to the graph on page 24 and the graph on page 25. We have corrected those errors in the version that is now available, and would like to apologise for any confusion.

    On 13 May, the first national care and support stakeholder event was held in London. Chaired by David Brindle, Public Services Editor at The Guardian, stakeholders debated the reform of the care and support system with:

    • Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Health
    • James Purnell, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions
    • Hazel Blears, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
    • David Behan, Director General for Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships
    • John Dixon, President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services
    • Stephen Burke, Chief Executive of Counsel and Care
    • Baroness Jane Campbell, Equality and Human Rights Commissioner
    • Ivan Lewis, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Care Services.
